John is a finance and investments professional with experience in the USA banking industry and a track record of having managed successful companies in Africa. He joined SouthBridge Group in October 2019 as a Director and is responsible for originating and executing deals in East, Central and Southern Africa. He is the Chairman of KCB Bank Rwanda, Chairman of Arrow Capital and a non-executive director of UAP-Old Mutual Insurance Rwanda and ONE54 Holdings UK. He previously served as a non-executive director of MTN Rwanda, Rwanda Investment Group, UCL-Kigali Convention Center, Meru Millers, JIBU Corp USA, Rwanda Energy Company and CIMERWA.

Prior to joining SouthBridge, John spent 6-years as an entrepreneur investing in various businesses in East Africa and providing financial advisory services to private companies and contractors in public infrastructure projects through Arrow Capital, a firm he founded and nurtured. Before going private, he was the CEO of Crystal Ventures, one of the largest investment-holding companies in Rwanda for 5-years and during his time there, he significantly expanded the business portfolio which included; manufacturing (dairy products, soft beverages, edible oil, building materials), construction, real estate, telecommunications, security services, printing, coffee shops, pharmaceuticals and hospitality. Before Crystal, John was an Associate in corporate investment banking with Bank of America in New York for 3-years and he was involved in M&A, debt and equity offerings with a focus on engineering and construction, equipment and machinery and diversified industrials. Prior to that, he was an Analyst with Trudeau & Trudeau Associates, a boutique M&A firm in Boston and before that he had stints with Fleet Boston Bank and Adams-AC Nielsen Research in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

John holds an MBA in Finance from Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts and a BSc in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University, Uganda. John is the founder of “Vision Youth Group”, a non-profit organization that has a football club and a table tennis club. He is also the President of Rwanda Table Tennis Federation. John is 43 years old and is married with four children.
